Trophee Hassan II Fantasy Preview

The odds-on favorite took care of business last week in Madrid. Now the Euro Tour heads to Morocco for the Trophee Hassan II.

This event is not a sequel to the first Trophee Hassan. The deuce actually refers to a person, Hassan II, who was King of Morocco from 1961 to 1999.

The tournament has been an official Euro Tour event since 2010 and Royal Golf Dar Es Salam has hosted three times during that stretch. The winners of those years were Rhys Davies, Jeunghun Wang, and Edoardo Molinari. Not exactly screaming ELITE.

The course is a par 73 that plays at roughly 7,600 yards! The field has averaged 74.18 over the last two years. Of course the Euro Tour’s website lists it as a Par 72 also so it either has FOUR or FIVE par 5s depending on which part of their site you trust.

Always great and accurate information on their website! Either way, this course has been no pushover, so golfers that can grind it out in tough conditions should rise to the top this week.

The greens are a mix of bent and poa while there is kikuyu grass from tee-to-green like we often see in Africa.

Since last year, the greens have been reworked so course history might make up a smaller role than usual. Check out Dave Tindall’s Rotoworld Preview if you want some proper golfer analysis.

If we stick to the stats, let’s try to find out who might fit the course this week…
