Important Interview Quotes

Clement Sordet: It’s always good to come back to a place where you have won and it was a really nice place to win, especially at the end of the year last year. It’s good that the tournament is on the European Tour now. I remember a lot of shots, especially the hole in one of course, which was my first professional hole in one, but if I had to pick one really special moment it would have to be the last putt. That’s when you know you’ve done it and you’ve got the trophy. My goal last year was to finish in the top 15 in the Road to Oman Rankings but that win meant I finished second which was really nice. It’s my fourth time playing this course and it has changed during those years but it is certainly a good advantage for a player like to me to have played here. There is not much rough and it’s only fairways, water or bunkers, but the layout is amazing, especially the finishing hole which is quite special. -2018

Matthew Southgate: I think it’s one of the best-designed golf courses I’ve ever seen, for tournament golf. I love the way that the greens are designed because you can move a pin and the hole changes completely. The fairways are the right size, generous off the tee but if it’s a flat-calm day you know you can tuck the pins away. It’s a very clever design, a lot of thought’s gone into it and obviously the setting of the course, right on the beachfront, is breath-taking. It really is one of the best golf courses I’ve ever seen. -2018

Daan Huizing: It’s a course you can’t really overpower and it demands all the shots. I like a bit of wind as well, you have to hit some shots working the wind a little bit. I just know what I need to do here and I feel comfortable on this course. Bring on three more good rounds. -2018

Matthieu Pavon: It’s a lot of good memories that helps me out here. When you play bad on some courses and you are going back the next year, you have some bad memories. Here is just the opposite. I just have so many good memories so I just try to surf on them. -2018

Chris Wood: I’m really surprised by the course here, it’s probably one of the best desert courses you’ll see – although you say desert course but it’s on the sea. It’s a bit of a mix between a links and a desert course. The design is really good and there are so many players saying the same things. It’s in perfect condition, the practice facilities are awesome to so I’m really pleasantly surprised. -2018
