Important Interview Quotes

BEN EVANS: For some reason I just love these greens. I seem to be able to read them pretty well. I holed a lot of putts from inside ten feet, which is what you need to do. -2017

JULIAN SURI: I’m travelling round the world playing golf and playing golf well, that helps, it’s been a really good time. This is my third time in Denmark and I’ve enjoyed each time, I like this course, the greens are in good shape and you’ve got to go and make birdies. I’ve just got to keep executing my shots, that’s what I did a really good job of today. I had one nice chip-in but other than that I didn’t make anything ridiculous, I just played really solid golf. The wind was down so if I just keep hitting good shots I think it will be soft again tomorrow so more of the same. -2017

DAVID HORSEY: It was tricky and the wind kept the scores fairly tame. I am pleased with the score because I didn’t feel comfortable out there today. I still hit some good shots and made a few putts which was great so I think I can improve for tomorrow and contend over the weekend. Obviously I have great memories of this place and it always helps when you return to a venue where you have played well in the past and that suits your eye. This is one of those places for me and it’s always one of the first events I put on my schedule at the start of every season. -2017, R2

THOMAS PIETERS: I have good memories and the course looks in very good shape, looks very similar to last year’s set up. I’ve played well, I’m swinging it well, I just need to putt well this week and there’s plenty of birdies out there. I don’t know if I’ve got a 62 in me like last year. -2017

THOMAS DETRY: The Himmerland Golf is a track with lots of birdie opportunities along with a few tricky holes where you have to be careful. In addition to that, the greens are firm, fast and very true. The difficulty of the course depends a lot on the weather conditions, which can change quickly up in the north. -2017 AllSquareGolf

Q. Crowds have been fantastic, over 25,000 yesterday and today; great to play in this kind of atmosphere?
BRADLEY DREDGE:
Yeah, it would be great to play in this atmosphere every week. I really enjoy coming here obviously and I do play well at the course but the crowds are a big part of it. I really enjoy it. -2016

DAVID HORSEY: Speed-wise the greens are fairly average, usually running at around ten and a half to eleven feet on the stimp meter,. With plenty of undulations and the wind, they can’t really get them too quick with but they roll very well and if you leave it on the best side more often than not they will give you a lot of chances for birdies.

BRADLEY DREDGE: I actually felt I played pretty well. I was here in 1999 and finished ninth in a Challenge Tour event, but I don’t remember the course at all. I remember staying on site in a house, but I don’t remember anything of the course.

I really enjoy it here. I get on well with the guys and enjoy the golf course. The crowds are great, so I’ll always be back. -2014

THORBJORN OLESEN: It’s a bit away from home for me, but it is still my country and I’ve been here a few times. It’s nice to see people again and see some old friends. -2014

MORTEN ORUM MADSEN: I know the course a bit, but not that well. They remodelled the greens a few years back and I’ve probably played it ten times since then. So it could give me a bit of an advantage, but not a major advantage.

It’s not a super tricky course so if you get some good practice in, you should know how to play it. I have played it in different winds though, which could help me. The wind will play a big role in how the tournament plays. I played a round with Søren (Kjeldsen) last week in perfect conditions, and it was possible to post a good score, but in the conditions we have now, anything under par is good. It will present a good challenge, regardless of the weather. -2014

SOREN KJELDSEN: I’ve not really played here before, certainly not after the changes they have made. One of the key factors will obviously be the wind here. It’s going to be windy so you need to keep the ball in play. It will be difficult to keep it on the fairway, but the course is in great shape. -2014

LUCAS BJERREGAARD: I play Himmerland nearly every day when I’m home. The facilities don’t get better than those we have here. It’s always a little windy here so I’m used to that. -2014

COURSE SETUP: Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort’s dramatic 128 yard par three 16th hole – affectionately christened Himmerland Hill by the locals – has proved to be a hugely popular feature with both spectators and players alike at Made in Denmark.

With its steep banks horseshoeing a postage stamp, two tier green, the natural amphitheatre has space for around 3,000 fans, and has created a cauldron of noise for the players making the short journey from tee to putting surface. -EuropeanTour.com
