Week 2 NFL Quick Picks

Week One of the NFL didn’t hold many surprises, at least to Vegas.  13 of the 16 winners were favored  to win.  The Broncos, Jets and 49ers were able to pull off small upsets.  Over at the Future of Fantasy Pick’Em group (not too late to join), four people are tied for the lead with 13 correct picks.  Meanwhile, I am the lone ranger sitting at the back of the pack, with only 10 correct picks.  It wasn’t a good start for me, but I feel like I have a better grasp of the teams after watching Week One.  Here’s how I see Week Two playing out.

FalconsPanthers @ Falcons – The news is out, Jake Delhomme is bad… real bad.  The Panthers defense will do everything they can to keep this one close, but the Panthers offense will find a way to lose it.

Falcons 23  Panthers 20

RedskinsRams @ Redskins – The Rams should be one of the most improved teams in the NFL this year, in terms of games won.  However, it didn’t show in Week One, and probably won’t show again in week two.  I think this one will be close, but the Redskins will come away with a victory in the end.

Redskins 24  Rams 17

EaglesSaints @ Eagles – The Saints and Eagles are the two teams that looked most impressive in week one, now they get to face off against each other.  Of course, no McNabb really puts a damper on the matchup, but it should still be a solid game.  I think this game will be won on Special Teams, and the Eagles have the edge.  Even sans-McNabb, give me the Eagles to squeek one out.

Eagles 27  Saints 24

TitansTexans @ Titans – The Titans defense didn’t miss a beat without Haynesworth.  The Texans got embarrassed by the Dirty Sanchez’s of New York.  I can seee the Texans offense showing bursts of life in this one, but not enough.

Titans 27  Texans 17

Patriots

Patriots @ Jets – For Jets/Pats fans, this is always one of the biggest games of the year.  It always gets a lot of hype, but no one really cares outside of the respective fan bases.  Last week the Jets defense looked too legit.  Meanwhile, the Pats came out sloppy versus the Bills, I would consider it their C-Game.  Bringing your C-Game versus the Bills is alright, but they will at least need their B-Game to squeek one out against the Jets.

Patriots 27  Jets 23

ChiefsRaiders @ Chiefs – In a battle of two of the most improved teams in the NFL, this one should be decided in the final four minutes.  Oakland’s rushing attack was a beast in week one versus the Chargers.  At the same time, the Chiefs were busy giving up 500+ yards of total offense to the mediocre offense of the Ravens.  I think the real Chiefs defense will show up in week two.  While I could see this one going either way, I’ll take the Chiefs 6 times outta 10.

Chiefs 20  Raiders 17

NFL_PackersBengals @ Packers – The Bengals are not as bad as they looked in Week 1, and the Packers are not as good as they looked in Week One. That being said, I still don”t see the Bengals pulling off an upset.

Packers 27  Bengals 21

NFL_JaguarsCardinals @ Jaguars – Super Bowl hangover is in full effect in Arizona.  The Cards held Frank Gore to 30 yards rushing, yet still managed to lose.  It may be a tough day for MJD on the ground, but Garrard should be able to hook up with his new Toy, Torry Holt. Jags roll in this one.

Jaguars 27  Cardinals 18

NFL_VikingsVikings @ Lions – The Vikings offense is lickin their chops in preparation of the Detroit Lion’s defense.  AP should run wild in this one, and after the game Brett Favre will be real comfortable in his Wrangler’s laughing about the joke that the Lions call a defense.  I can see the Lions Special Teams giving them a TD, or at least putting them in great position.  When all is said and done, this one shouldn’t be too difficult for the Vikings.

Vikings 28  Lions 20

NFL_BuccaneersBucs @ Bills – The Bucs are bad, but the Bills are worse.  Cadillac looked solid in week one.  Neither of these offenses are much, but they will look decent due to the poor quality of both defense.  I like the Bucs to pull off an upset.

Bucs 23  Bills 21

NFL SeahawksSeahawks @ 49ers – The 49ers got handed a win by the Cardinals in week one.  It won’t be so easy this week.  The offense aren’t flashy, but I think they will surprise a lot of people this year as they win the division with ease.  Beating the 49ers at San Fran will certainly help.

Seahawks 23  San Fran 21

BearsSteelers @ Bears – This one should be ugly, ugly if you enjoy offensive showdowns.  Both teams will probably struggle to score on offense.  I think Cutler will bounce back from his ugly Bears debut, and lead the Bears to a big home victory.

Bears 20 Steelers 17

NFL_ChargersRavens @ Chargers – No LT,  no problem… Sproles looked more than solid in week one, and should be productive again in week two. Look for the Chargers to show the nation why many people are picking them to win it all.

Chargers 27  Ravens 17

NFL_BroncosBrowns @ Broncos – The Broncos offense looked HORRIBLE in week one.  Thanks to a tipped miracle, they still managed a victory over the Bengals.  The Browns are no strangers to horrible offenses, they have been awful for over a year now.  This will probably be the most boring game to watch, and the Broncos defense will win it for them.

Broncos 20  Browns 14

NFL_CowboysGiants @ Cowboys – The Giants looked mediocre versus the Redskins in Week One, while the Cowboys were busy puttin’ a hurtin’ on the Bucs.  The Giants will look a lot better this week, but I doubt they get the W.  The Cowboys will have that little “extra” incentive to win in the new stadium’s debut.

Cowboys 28  Giants 21

NFL_ColtsColts @ Dolphins – Losing Anthony Gonzalez is really gonna hurt the Colts, but shouldn’t be a problem this week since the Dolphins aren’t lookin so hot.  Peyton should be able to lead the new look Colts to victory on the Monday Night stage.

Colts 23  Dolphins 20
