There are very few, if any, people who can make their entire living off Fantasy Sports. For the rest of us, Fantasy Sports is just a passion, a hobby, or just something to make sports interesting. Looking at the careers of the rest of the managers in your league can be a quick indicator of how competitive the league will be. Here are five careers that make it nearly impossible to manage a Fantasy Football team.
#5 – Commercial Pilot
I don’t know how scheduling works for Pilots, but any job that involves as much traveling, that also requires your full attention, does not help in managing a Fantasy Football team. All I know is that I would not want to be miles in the sky while my Fantasy Football team is trying to perform.
Odds of Pilot Fan Winning the League – 15%
#4 – Hardcore Fan
While this isn’t really a true career, you would be surprised by some people. Mixing fandom with fantasy sports is generally a bad idea. I’m not talking about the average Packers fan who picks 3 Packers during his first 6 six draft picks and then is done picking Packers. I’m talking about the hardcore Packers fan who drafts the entire Packers depth chart, and will refuse to draft any Bears, Vikings or Lions players.
Odds of Hardcore Fan Winning the League – 15%
#3 – Sports Bar Waiter / Bartender
If you work at any reasonable sports bar, it should be packed on Sundays. That means you have the option of taking it off and missing out on the opportunity for great tips, or you can work Sunday and miss out on watching the games. Sure, you can catch glimpses here and there, especially the big plays, but you’re going to miss the majority of all games. Boooo.
Odds of Waiter/Bartender Winning the League – 10%

#2 – Truck Driver
This is kind of like the pilot, because it is a career that involves a ton of travel. The upside for a truck driver is that they can listen via radio, but that’s just not the same as seeing for yourself. Then when it comes time to make that key pick up, guess what the truck driver is doing… on the road! Make it an Ice Road Trucker, and they got no chance!
Odds of Truck Driver Winning the League – 5%
#1 – Priest
The Priest may have the hand of god on his side, but when it comes to watching games, the Priest is usually busy on Sundays. I would really like my chances if I joined a 10 team league with nine priests and myself. However, I can’t imagine any situation where that would even be close to coming true. One plus for the priest is that he would have drafted or picked up Priest Holmes at all cost back in his prime.
Odds of Priest Winning the League – 1%
If you are all about winning your league, these are five careers you would love your league-mates to have. How does your job effect your Fantasy Sports managing?
