SEC FanDuel Stats

As the Fantasy College Basketball season kicks off at FanDuel, we’ve decided to take a step back and look at last season. Speaking of last season, Kentucky’s Terrence Jones is the #1 returning FanDuel player in the country. Seeing that TJ is only a Sophomore, there is a decent chance he can remain the #1 FanDuel player for 2011-12. Let’s see how the rest of the SEC shook out last season.

Breakout Candidates

Patric Young (Florida) – This year the playing time will be available for Young due to the departures of Chandler Parsons and The Predator (Alex Tyus). Florida’s best lineup this year is going to be four
guards (Beal, Walker, Boynton, and Rosario) joined by Patric Young, which means that Young will get a
lot of minutes with a lot of guys who can get him the ball, and a lot of opportunities for rebounds. The
four guard lineup will open up the paint for Young to do his thing down low, averaging double digits
rebounds will not be out of the question. I expect him around 23 fanduel points per game this season.

Marshawn Powell (Arkansas) – No Rotnei Clarke, no Delvon Johnson, and a (so far) injury free Marshawn
Powell means very positive things for Powell’s outlook this year. Powell did average 17.4 FanDuel points
last year, but early on he was hampered by injuries, and admittedly came back too soon, and he had
Rotnei Clarke to contend with for points and Delvon Johnson to contend with for rebounds. This year
his frontcourt mate will be Michael Sanchez who is big enough to fight with the opposition’s bruiser,
freeing up Powell even more. Powell will be the go to guy this year and by all accounts is fully healthy
and ready to go. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him average a little over 26 fanduel points per game this
year.

Frankie Sullivan (Auburn) – Nobody is questioning Sullivan’s toughness, he tore his ACL in July last year
and attempted to come back after missing only 8 games. He played well, but then the knee started to
swell up again and he had to be shut down again. Frankie is in the perfect situation for a break out year.
He is fantastic shooter and this year he will have Texas transfer Varez Ward to pass him the ball. Auburn
will be a much improved team from last year and a healthy Sullivan will be a big reason why. I don’t see
any reason why he won’t average around 23 FanDuel points a game as long as he is healthy.

Arnett Moultrie (Miss State) – Moultrie is considered a breakout player because he had to sit out last
year because he transferred from UTEP. In his second year at UTEP he ONLY averaged 9.8 points and 6.7
rebounds. It appears that he used his year off to become the dominant player that he showed flashes
of at UTEP. In three games he is averaging 16.3 pts, 12.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals. With or without
Renardo Sidney in the lineup Moultrie is going to get his because he wants it more, has a much better
motor, and is frankly better than the more highly touted Sidney. I could see Moultrie average at least 27
FanDuel points per game, and even higher than that in games that Sidney doesn’t play.
