Yesterday’s Future of Fantasy Top Target Pitchers:

Roy Halladay: 8.0 IP – 3ER – 4K – Win
Shaun Marcum: 5.0 IP – 3ER – 5K – No Win

You could have done just fine with Halladay yesterday, as he was the #6 fantasy pitcher yesterday. However, Shaun Marcum didn’t last long enough or earn a win. After a couple days of dominance from my top targeted pitchers, yesterday was rather mediocre. You would have had much better luck if you drafted from my Value Picks yesterday. Four of my five top-value pitchers ended up in the top seven fantasy scorers yesterday.

In other news, Will Middlebrooks is going through the regression process. After a monster start, Middlebrooks has earned a combined 2.50 FanDuel points over his last four games. This will make the Red Sox decision much easier once Youkilis returns shortly. Welington Castillo is a catcher to keep an eye on now that Geovany Soto is heading to the DL. He has the playing time, he will be incredibly cheap, and he has crushed lefties in his incredibly small sample-sized career.

Lance Lynn should be the top target in most of your drafts today. Lynnsanity has posted an average of 15.67 FanDuel points per start this year. Going against the Kemp-less Dodgers shouldn’t be any harder than his previous matchups. I think 10 points is the minimum you get from Lynn, with the upside for a whole lot more. Marco Estrada is another sleeper that you should target today. Estrada has yet to pick up a win in four starts but his peripherals suggest he should dominate this Minnesota Twins squad.

I would suggest getting Dustin Ackley in any and all lineups today. He has been very hot lately, he’s facing a mediocre Alex White and the game is at Coors Field. I would be shocked if he gives you less than four FanDuel points today.

My two favorite pitching options tonight are Henderson Alvarez and Max Scherzer. Alvarez is facing the AAA Twins so he should be able to go 7+ innings and hopefully snag a win. Patrick Corbin is a crafty lefty that was a “throw-in” for the trade that sent Dan Haren to Los Angeles. I put quotes around throw-in because Corbin is slightly better than your average throw-in, and the Angels certainly weren’t happy to see him go. Most of his comparable pitchers really struggled during their rookie season so I wouldn’t recommend picking him up in any fantasy leagues unless you are in a Diamondbacks-Only League. If I had to guess, Patrick Corbin is just a placeholder in the rotation until Trevor Bauer gets the call in early June.

Comparable Pitchers: Randy Wolf, Ted Lilly, David Huff

2012 Prediction: 85 Innings – 4 Wins – 4.54 ERA – 1.40 WHIP – 76 K – 35 BB

Starting Pitcher

Cliff Lee ain’t cheap, but there is a reason for that. The Mets aren’t really equipped to face Lefties, especially with no David Wright. Lee will cost you a pretty penny but he should go 7+ with 7 K’s, less than 3 Earned Runs, and a win.

Felix Hernandez is another high-priced option that could be a great pick. King Felix owns the Athletics over his career. The question will be the run support the offense gives him against an underrated Bartolo Colon. The numbers will be strong, but a Win is a question mark.

If you’re more of a bargain hunter, then Juan Nicasio or Jordan Zimmermann are solid options at $5,400 FanDuel.

Catcher

Mike Napoli is in a tough hitters park but facing a mediocre RHP, Anthony Swarzak.

A.J. Ellis is a cheap option that could pay off. Ellis has a 161 wRC+ Vs. LHP in his small 32 Plate Appearance sample size. Keep an eye on the weather.

George Kottaras is another cheap catcher option that is swinging a hot bat. He has 2 Home Runs and 5 RBI in 7 At Bats this year. Will he be squatting behind the plate today, though?

First Base

Yonder Alonso is such a good hitter but he has yet to really “break out”. Facing a below-average Clayton Richard may be the remedy. I really like Alonso in today’s matchup.

If Alonso doesn’t bode well for you, then Joey Votto, Jim Thome or Paul Goldschmidt could all pay dividends.

Second Base

I don’t like many of the cheap options today at Second Base. Instead, you should really splurge here and pick Ian Kinsler, Rickie Weeks or Kelly Johnson.

Third Base

Kyle Seager is swinging a hot bat in Seattle if you want to go cheap at the Hot Corner. Otherwise you’d be smart to stick with Adrian Beltre, Ryan Zimmerman or Brett Lawrie.

Shortstop

A super-sneaky pick at Shortstop is Jamey Carroll. This guy is old but he is gaining a lot of confidence in the last two days. It looks like he found his stroke. Considering that he is 2,300 FanDuel Dollars cheaper than Jose Reyes, you could do worse.

Outfield

Matt Kemp is pricy but he destroys left-handed pitching. If you can balance your budget properly, Kemp could pay off nicely. Keep an eye on the weather.

If you spend big on Matty Kemp or Josh Hamilton, then you may need a cheap option like David Murphy to round out your outfield.

Every day NBA Floor Time will give a report on the NBA players with the greatest increases and decreases in playing time relative to their season averages. This is critical information when projecting daily performance and essential to profiting in daily fantasy basketball contests.

For example, just looking at the last two days we can see that Chris Wilcox and Shelden Williams both make appearances high on the list. Wilcox is benefitting from a KG injury while Shelden Williams is just earning more playing time. UPDATE: Below is the Basketball Team I entered. The big question mark is Klay Thompson. The rookie out of Wazzou is already in Mark Jackson’s good graces and when Steph Curry tweaked his ankle in Tuesdays preseason game, I had to roll the dice with Thompson for $3,000 FanDuel Dollars. I think Rip Hamilton tries to prove he’s not washed up, and starts the season very strong. Brandon Bass should get some solid run in Boston, especially with Jeff Green out of the equation. Bass is a great hustle guy who could end with 8 points, 8 rebounds, a couple steals, a couple blocks on any given night. I thought Brandon Haywood was relatively cheap, since Tyson Chandler is no longer in his way. Haywood should be a rebound-hog.
