UPDATE: Below is the Basketball Team I entered. The big question mark is Klay Thompson. The rookie out of Wazzou is already in Mark Jackson’s good graces and when Steph Curry tweaked his ankle in Tuesdays preseason game, I had to roll the dice with Thompson for $3,000 FanDuel Dollars. I think Rip Hamilton tries to prove he’s not washed up, and starts the season very strong. Brandon Bass should get some solid run in Boston, especially with Jeff Green out of the equation. Bass is a great hustle guy who could end with 8 points, 8 rebounds, a couple steals, a couple blocks on any given night. I thought Brandon Haywood was relatively cheap, since Tyson Chandler is no longer in his way. Haywood should be a rebound-hog.

Prince, 34, who has been playing daily fantasy sports on FanDuel.com for two years now, was the last to qualify for the Championship final and is still overwhelmed by the result.

“It feels truly amazing. I’m still in shock to be honest. I can’t even express how excited I was when I realized it was finally over. All the time and energy put into daily fantasy has now paid off tenfold,” Prince said. “It was the best ten bucks I ever spent!”

Unfortunately, Prince was unable to attend the Las Vegas live final of the Championship as his wife was about to give birth – and his daughter was born the very next day!

Coming in second place – and winning $25,000 – was Charles Bell from Wichita, Kansas. The only female finalist, Maura Wilder, from Boston, finished in third, winning $15,000.

This marks the second year that the FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship has taken place. For 12 straight weeks, tens of thousands of fantasy football players square off to win a FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship weekly qualifier. Each entry costs only $10. Each week’s winner earns an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to compete in the Championship final. In 2010, FanDuel awarded $50,000 to players during the duration of the contest. In 2011, that increased to $200,000 in total being paid out.

So what does the future hold for the FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship? Prince shared his thoughts:

The 4-8 Seattle Mariners are traveling to Kansas City after taking two of three from the Blue Jays. Even though they lost the third game of the series, there is definitely momentum and team chemistry building up in the Seattle Clubhouse.

The thing that sticks out in this game is Bruce Chen’s pitch counts. In his first two starts, the Royals have pulled him after 91 and 82 pitches. As long as the Mariners can get a run or two in the first couple innings, I think Chen won’t go more than six innings. That’s great news because the Royals bullpen is mediocre at best. Doug Fister should be able to out-pitch Bruce Chen. Knowing we have the late inning advantage, as well, means all the value is on the Mariners.

Here is how I see this going down tonight in Arizona: Jake Westbrook and Ian Kennedy both give up a run or two in the first inning before settling down a bit. Westbrook ends up going six innings, giving up 2 or 3 earned runs. Kennedy goes 5 or 6 innings, giving up 4 earned runs. Albert Pujols hits at least one Home Run. Yeah, I said at least one Home Run. In case you are setting your daily fantasy lineup, today would be a great day to put Pujols in your FanDuel lineup. I would not be surprised if we see a 3-3 with a walk or 4-4 type of game from Big Al.

Both bullpens are pretty average, and neither are well rested. I would actually give a tiny bullpen advantage to the D-Backs. As the game progresses, the Cardinals start pulling away, and coast to a three run victory. Whether it all goes down like this is besides the point. What’s important is that the Cardinals are the team to back today.

The Cubs have the audacity to send a marginal relief pitcher to the hill to start against Brett Myers. That’s a slap in the face to Brett Myers and the Astros will punish the Cubs for making that decision. I guess the Cubs saw what Ogando did when he was thrown into the Starters role, and thought it would work for Russell as well. I’m not buying it. I think best case scenario for Mr. Russell is 5 innings, 4 ER. Not counting Russell, expect to see at least four innings from the Cubs bullpen. Assuming it’s not the 9th inning with the lead, the Cubs bullpen is pretty average.

On the other side of the field, the Astros have an incredibly overworked bullpen. Over the last three games, the Astros bullpen has pitched 15+ innings. Expect Brad Mills to ride Brett Myers for 7 innings, possibly 8 if he’s coasting. When we look at the hitting matchup, we can see that both teams are better hitting against Lefties. Unfortunately, the Cubs will be facing a tough right-hander. The Astros get what they want, a nice easy southpaw to wake up their bats. Houston Astros it is.
