AFC East Preview: A Hard Knock Life

The AFC East may be the best Division in the NFL, at least defensively, that is. Other than the Patriots, there is a lot to be desired from these offenses. Like they say, though, “defense wins championships”. That is why the 2010 AFC East division winner will be a very legitimate Super Bowl contender.

1. New York Jets

Projected Record: 10-6
Fantasy Sleeper: Dustin Keller – TE
Cliff Notes: Maybe its the Hard Knocks effect, or maybe it’s their unbelievable Defense, but the Jets look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender in 2010. I’m not going crazy and saying they are the Super Bowl favorite, but you can consider me a “semi-believer”. I’m looking forward to watching the Terminator destroy people on kickoffs on a weekly basis.

2. New England Patriots

Projected Record: 10-6
Fantasy Sleeper: Aaron Hernandez – TE
Cliff Notes: The Patriots no longer that allure that made them unbeatable for many years, but they are still an elite team. The 2010 season looks like a lot of close games for the Patriots, which means this 10 win prediction could fluctuate one or two games depending on how lucky or good they are at the end of games.

3. Miami Dolphins

Projected Record: 8-8
Fantasy Sleeper: Lex Hilliard – RB
Cliff Notes: Brandon Marshall is a good piece to add, but they should have focused more on improving the defense. For a team that relies on ball control, you would expect them to be able to make some defensive stops, but it’s just the opposite for Miami.

4. Buffalo Bills

Projected Record: 6-10
Fantasy Sleeper: Lee Evans – WR
Cliff Notes: The Bills are not as bad as they are perceived by many to be. Their defense is very good, they have three legitimate running backs, and Lee Evans to stretch opposing secondaries. However, they lack a NFL Quarterback, and any receiving support for Lee Evans. Vegas has this team’s Season Wins pegged at 5.5. I say they are a 6 win team, minimum.
