2013 Fantasy Golf Contests

Jonas Blixt 2013 Breakout CandidateThe 2013 PGA Season kicks off tomorrow morning in Hawaii. That means that Fantasy Golf is back! If you are like me then you don’t want to pay to play Fantasy Golf but there are still plenty of Fantasy Golf contests out there to join.

Most of these contests offer season-long prizes and allow you to edit your teams until the first tee time, but it is better safe than sorry. You don’t want to miss out on a grand prize because you missed a deadline. Get your picks in before you goto sleep tonight.

GolfZing Fantasy Golf
Pick 7 players each week and earn money for every player that makes the cut. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 finishers each week, along with 4 Quarterly prizes and 1 Tour Champion.

Golf Channel Fantasy Golf
This is one of my favorite Fantasy Golf contests because it’s so simple and doesn’t require any micromanaging after you make your picks. Just like Yahoo! Fantasy, golfers are broken down into groups and you pick one golfer from each group.

Golf Channel’s Exciting Prizing
• First place winner each week takes home $100 gift card from Dick’s Sporting Goods
• Top 3 each segment receive a new hybrid
• Top 10 overall walk away with a new driver

Nike Golf Nation Fantasy Golf
It seems like all the golfers are switching to Nike this year, so why not play in a Nike fanboy Golf contest? In this contest you pick four golfers, one must be a Nike sponsored golfer. You get points for a win, top three finish or top 10 finish. Check out the Rules page for full info. There are monthly prizes, half-way prizes and grand prizes. Very generous of Nike Golf Nation!

Early Deadline: THURSDAY at Midnight (PST)

Yahoo! Fantasy Golf
This is probably the most common fantasy game to join, and it very fun to play. Players are broken into three groups which are supposed to be somewhat based on skill but you would think they are completely random sometimes. You pick eight players, but four will be on your “bench”. You can be strategic and mix and match your players throughout the week or just stick with your big guns and let your starters ride. Either way, it’s a lot of fun. If it is the same as last year, Yahoo! will offer golf balls to the weekly winner, and an overall winner for each segment.

Clickitgolf – One & Done
Modeled the same as a typical NFL Survivor Pool. You can only pick a golfer once per season. Your total prize money will be added to your Season standings. Website says chance to win prizes, but not sure what the prizes are.

Buzz Fantasy Golf Leagues
Choose 5 golfers each week to receive actual earnings. Choose 1 additional golfer each week to receive double earnings. Choose a golfer up to 8 times during the season. The prizes are pretty small but it’s worth a look if you are obsessed with Fantasy Golf.

Need some help making your picks? Here are my top ten golfers this week in Hawaii. If you believe in golfers having continued success on specific courses then take a look at Steve Stricker, Webb Simpson or Carl Pettersson.
