2009-10 Top 50 Power Forwards

Chris Bosh

1. Danny Granger
2. Chris Bosh
3. Al Jefferson
4. Dirk Nowitzki
5. Amare Stoudemire

Notes: This may be the last season in Toronto for Chris Bosh, so he definitely try to leave on a great note. CB4 is ready for a career year. Al Jefferson proved himself to be an elite fantasy player before getting hurt last season. He should continue right where he left off, as long as his knees hold up. Dirk Nowitzki took the summer off, so he should be rested and ready for a big year in Dallas.

6. Brook Lopez
7. LaMarcus Aldridge
8. Gerald Wallace
9. David West
10. Pau Gasol
11. David Lee
12. Rudy Gay
13. Josh Smith
14. Tim Duncan
15. Al Horford

Notes: LaMarcus Aldridge didn’t make much improvement last season. Aldridge is only 24 years old, and should only get better this year with Andre Miller setting him up. Al Horford is another player that could really break out. He raised his FG% last year, and is said to be more involved in the offense this season. Look for 15 points, 10 rebounds with 1.5 blocks from Horford.

16. Andrea Bargnani
17. Tyrus Thomas
18. Rashard Lewis
19. Shawn Marion
20. Kevin Garnett
21. Antawn Jamison
22. Charlie Villanueva
23. Troy Murphy
24. Jeff Green
25. Anthony Randolph

Notes: Both Andrea Bargnani and Tyrus Thomas made big fantasy strides in their 3rd seasons, and should only continue the imrpovement in year four. Rashard Lewis is going very late in a lot of drafts. If you can survive without him during his 10-game suspension then he can become a steal after pick 50. Troy Murphy was unbelievable last season, but don’t fall in his trap. Last year was his first season as a Top 50 player, and he’s 29 years old. I can’t see him finishing much higher than the Top 50 this season.

26. Thaddeus Young
27. Mehmet Okur
28. NeNe Hilario
29. Luis Scola
30. Michael Beasley
31. Marvin Williams
32. Emeka Okafor
33. Spencer Hawes
34. Marcus Camby
35. Paul Millsap

Notes: Thaddeus Young is only 21 years old, in his third season, a breakout season is very likely. NeNe Hilario is a rare Center eligible player that can get you blocks and steals, but don’t count on him staying healthy. His injury history drops his draft value quite a bit. Luis Scola should be a Double-Double machine with big Yao out of the picture. Marvin Williams is very low-risk but has great potential still. Paul Millsap is getting drafted too early this year. Carlos Boozer is back on the court, and that will take a lot of value from Millsap.

36. Blake Griffin
37. Al Harrington
38. Joakim Noah
39. Zach Randolph
40. Boris Diaw
41. Elton Brand
42. Jason Thompson
43. Carlos Boozer
44. Kevin Love
45. Andrei Kirilenko

Notes: The Chicago Bull’s Joakim Noah finished strong last year, and there is no reason not to expect him to keep developing. It is safe to draft Noah confidently as your #2 PF/C. Zach Randolph should be his usual self, getting you about 18 points and 9 rebounds, but not much else. Jason Thompson looks like a poor-man’s Luis Scola this year. He should average close to a Double-Double, but his steal/block totals are less than appealing.

46. Lamar Odom
47. Tayshaun Prince
48. Rasheed Wallace
49. Carl Landry
50. Ronny Turiaf

Notes: Lamar Odom is too busy getting married to someone he just met to have a good year. I’m in love with Carl Landry this year. I have him ranked relatively low for what my actual expectations are. There are a lot of points and rebounds to be had in Houston with Yao Ming gone. Carl Landry should easily go for 12 points and 8 rebounds a night. Ronny Turiaf is tough to trust since he’s in Golden State, but you can’t argue with his massive block totals.
